Easter_BunnyEaster closures – just around the corner

It seems strange talking about Easter when it feels like we are all just getting back into the swing of things after the Christmas break…but here we are. Less than seven weeks away from Easter.

Our offices will be closed for both Good Friday, 25 March and Easter Monday, 28 March.

Best that you check with your agency or client to see if timesheet deadlines or pay dates will change because of these public holidays.

Timesheets

If your timesheet(s) are due on Friday 25 March or Monday 28 March, we suggest you submit your approved timesheets beforehand on Thursday 24 March or immediately following the public holidays on Tuesday 29 March, if you don’t hear otherwise.

Pay Transfers

We’ll be reconciling and releasing all funds received prior to the Easter break on Thursday 24 March, for overnight release.

Please note: Following Easter the next date payments processed will be on Tuesday 29 March. So best you get your timesheets in prior to Good Friday, if possible.

If you have any questions please contact our Contractor Care team on 1300 724 082 or customerservice@cxcglobal.com.au.

So in summary…don’t forget to make arrangements to accommodate your timesheet & pay cycle that could be affected by the Easter break closure.

Webinar: Thinking property in 2016?

Like many other Australians, have you decided that 2016 is the year to get into property? Either as a home owner or an investor? But just aren’t sure how to get started…where to buy…or even what to buy. Property

If this sounds like you, then this webinar will give you the confidence to move forward and take your first steps on the property ladder.

Property is a great way to create long-term wealth for you and your family but can be a bit daunting…especially if you’re new to the market. Don’t get confused by all the noise in the marketplace.

As part of the CXC Global family, Launch Properties can show you how to maximise your take home pay by utilising simple property related tax deductions like depreciation and claimable investment expenses.

Property expert, Steven Purcell from Launch Properties will help you get started and point you in the right direction. Steven will cover off the following topics:

•    How to get started – securing that first property
•    Property 101 – where, why and what to buy
•    How much will it cost me? – tenants and the taxman are your friends
•    Reducing costly errors – building your own knowledge team

We’ve set the webinar for Thursday 11 February at the convenient time of 12pm so you can join us from your desk as you have your lunch. We expect the session to go for 45 minutes.

We hope you can join us!

Labour Day Public Holiday for WA and Vic

Labour Day boots

Did you know that Labour Day commemorates the eight hour day movement, which advocated eight hours for work, eight hours for recreation, and eight hours for rest?

Labour Day is celebrated at different times across Australia because each state achieved the 8-hour day on different dates. In March, both Western Australia and Victoria celebrate Labour Day.

For contractors in WA and Vic, best that you check with your agency or client to see if timesheet deadlines or pay dates will change because of the public holiday in your state.

Pay runs will proceed as normal. So, if you are due to be paid on the public holiday, you can expect funds in your account as usual.

If you have any questions please contact our Contractor Care team on 1300 724 082 or customerservice@cxcglobal.com.au.

lesson_learntLessons learnt from freelancing

In 2016, more and more people will be branching out into freelancing. This is a big step, one that may cause some anxiety in the first year. After several years of freelancing, most contingent workers can reflect upon their first days critically, seeing some mistakes they could have avoided. Taking the leap into freelancing means letting go of the protections and structure of being part of a corporate entity. It takes quite a bit of tenacity, personal accountability and faith to move forward alone, particularly since income is involved. Although becoming a freelancer may be the best decision ever made, it is usually not a path without some wrong turns. Learning early lessons will help new independent contractors perform better, in those first years of self-employment. We’ve provided just some of those lessons, below.
