Labour Day Public Holiday for WA and Vic
Did you know that Labour Day commemorates the eight hour day movement, which advocated eight hours for work, eight hours for recreation, and eight hours for rest?
Labour Day is celebrated at different times across Australia because each state achieved the 8-hour day on different dates. In March, both Western Australia (6 March) and Victoria (13 March) celebrate Labour Day.
For contractors in WA and Vic, best that you check with your agency or client to see if timesheet deadlines or pay dates will change because of the public holiday in your state.
Pay runs will proceed as normal. So, if you are due to be paid on the public holiday, you can expect funds in your account as usual.
