Risk Report

CXC GlobalApril 22, 2023

The Australian workforce is set to experience significant changes in 2023 as the majority of the provisions of the Fair Work Legislation Amendment (Secure Jobs, Better Pay) Act 2022 come into effect. The Act aims to promote gender equality and secure work, and employers should ensure that they have put appropriate practices in place to ensure compliance.

The Act has already introduced various changes, including pay secrecy, protection of attributes like breastfeeding and gender identity, and the introduction of new objects around gender pay equity and job security. Other changes include flexible work requests, the abolishment of the Registered Organisations Commission, small claims court, parental leave and more.

In our latest risk report, we dive deeper into:

  • New obligations around flexible work requests.
  • The small claims process.
  • Extended unpaid parental leave.
  • What’s coming down the track in industrial relations.

Employers should be aware of the significant changes that the Act will bring in 2023. Our report will help you with reviewing policies and procedures to ensure compliance. Failure to comply with these changes can result in costly consequences for employers.
