The Challenge
UWA faced the challenge of engaging global staff in countries like Brazil, India, Malaysia, and Singapore where they lacked legal entities, requiring compliant hiring within diverse local legislations. The complexities of navigating varying employment laws, tax regulations, and cultural norms in each country posed significant obstacles.
Ensuring seamless coordination, maintaining legal compliance, and managing payroll across multiple jurisdictions presented a formidable task. Overcoming these challenges demanded a comprehensive understanding of global employment practices, intricate compliance requirements, and strategic workforce management solutions.
Solution
CXC implemented an employed contractor solution in these four countries and correctly onboarded the workers. Our expert guidance on employing a contractor talent base and regular legislative updates ensure compliance and streamlined operations.
In Brazil, we payrolled UWA’s Marketing Manager Americas, who was based in Curitiba, Brazil and covered the entire region.
Key services we have provided to UWA include:
- Vetting to ensure workers are properly classified as employed contractors with right to work in each country and proper tax registrations
- Managing onboarding in each country with an emphasis on intellectual property and confidentiality
- A single invoice for all services
- Employed compliant management and payroll to contractors on a monthly basis
- Centralised invoicing to UWA in AUD for accounting simplification
- Payment of all contractors in local currency
- Managing complex payments such as paid time off, 13th month payments and termination policies in each country
Results
CXC’s collaboration empowered UWA to deliver ongoing compliant and cost-effective solutions to their clients’ countries of origin. The favourable contractor experience fostered loyalty and productivity, leading to the renewal of the contract until the project’s conclusion
